Founder's Message

I am a blend of two identities—a linguistics researcher and a mother who has been with her child for nearly 10 years. During my Master's studies in Linguistics at the University of Hong Kong, I systematically studied theories of language acquisition, phonetics, and pragmatics. And after becoming a mother myself, I personally observed and recorded every key stage of my child's language development, from prenatal education to school age.

Language courses on the market often only teach "what to say," but rarely explain "why to say it" or "how to learn most effectively." Therefore, I founded Trilingual Nexus, hoping to combine academic theory with family practice to cultivate talents with true cross-cultural communication skills for Hong Kong's trilingual society.

Based on linguistic theory, we focus on trilingual (Cantonese, English, and Mandarin) education in Hong Kong, covering all age groups from early childhood education to adult professional training.

Academic driven

All courses are designed based on basic linguistic theories, avoiding simple copying of commercially available textbooks. Each lesson is academically grounded, making learning more efficient.

Practically Tested

The founder has nearly 10 years of experience in parenting, and every method has been tested in real families to ensure that it is practical .

Locally rooted

Having been rooted in Hong Kong for 16 years, I have a deep understanding of the local trilingual environment and learning challenges, and our course content is closely aligned with everyday life in Hong Kong.

使命

根基

Each course is personally designed by the founder based on linguistic theories to ensure that the teaching content is scientific, systematic, and transferable.

Brown's average sentence length theory

Brown's MLU (Mean Length of Utterance) curriculum for toddler aged 0–3 does not teach complex sentence structures; instead, it designs transitional games from one-word to two-word utterances, following the natural early childhood language acquisition process.

Comparative analysis hypothesis

The comparative analysis hypothesis addresses the first-and-fourth-tone confusion among Cantonese native speakers learning Mandarin, and designs targeted tone-pair exercises for focused correction.

Phoneme decomposition training

Before phonics lessons, a "phoneme segmentation" game (e.g., "cat → /k/ /æ/ /t/") is incorporated to build sound discrimination skills.

Grice's Cooperation Principles

Pragmatics (Grice's Cooperative Principle): This workplace English course analyzes the "quantity maxim" and "manner maxim" in real emails to make communication more effective and contextually appropriate.

育儿

From the day my daughter was born, I began to record her language milestones: her first cry, her first "ma", her first two-word combination... These real-life examples have given me a deep understanding of the early childhood language patterns.

“When my daughter was very young, she pointed to the little animals in the picture book and asked me, ‘Mommy, why isn’t it wearing clothes?’ I was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and explained. At that moment, I realized that children’s language contains the most vibrant logic and imagination. Our course is precisely to protect this innocence and then guide it to grow using scientific methods.”

Every demonstration and game in the course has been proven effective in parent-child interactions. The "three-times method for telling picture books" and the "tone and gesture method" in the course are methods I have used for nearly 10 years, and these are practices that I hope to pass on and share.
